Pets and such

Somebody dropped off a letter for me today! Thanks to whoever did that - been a long while since I bothered checkin' my mail. Turns out one of my old neighbors wrote me a couple weeks back to tell me my old cat's doin' all right with her now. Seems she's got the run of the place - I was worried she wouldn't get on with Bess, but looks like she's put on weight, if anything, so I guess I can rest easy on that.






Then of course she wanted to know how the new job was workin' out. Guess I start to see why so many people have difficulty thinkin' of what to say in these letters home. Well, she's used to not gettin' much detail, anyhow. Guess I'll manage something.

By the way, Demo, I'm sorry about runnin' off like that last night. Never was much good at recieving gifts, I guess. No hard feelings, huh? Stop by the shop later on whenever you'd like and we'll head over 'n check out that place you mentioned.

That's Buttercup? Really pretty cat there!

Y'know, some people say that after some time, pets and their owners start to look alike. While I can't verify the validy of that statement, that cat appears to be givin' me the same look that you do whenever I say something that you deem asinine.

Cat's got some sense to her, that's why. She prob'ly saw you lookin'.

Gotta say, I'm kickin' myself for givin' her away now I know the base's policy on cats a little better. Not that I could've put her through shipping in good conscience, I suppose. Little old thing'd probably catch a stray bullet or somethin' out here anyway, knowin' my luck.


... Might be kinda abrupt of me to ask, but are you plannin' on coming over sometime soon? Haven't seen ya since you got back, and I've stopped over a couple times knockin' with no answer. Thought I pissed you off or something.

Ah, shit, sorry, I ain't spent much time in the new shop. Tell ya what-- you free later tonight? I'd been meanin' to ask if you could look over some drawings with me. I got plans for buildin' somethin' big soon. That shop an' I have got to learn to get along sometime.

I'm not exactly sure on that - picked her up off the street, see, so I don't know much about where she came from. Wasn' ever real sure about cats to start with. Dad didn't take too kindly to 'em.

And 'course I'm free, you old fool. Dunno what it is I'd be doin' around here, anyhow.
