I don't believe him. Hell, I know Doc's a good guy, but everybody makes a mistake or two from time to time, s'pecially when the equipment's that old. When the image quality on some of them scans gets poor enough, you got no way of knowin' what's dust in the apparatus 'n what's really there on screen.
Hmph. Go to the hospital. Sure I will. I sure as hell got time to go do that. With all these new fellas takin' up space on the field, we need every last man we got out here. I ain't about to leave right in the middle of all this to go sit on my ass in some hospital bed.
I like to think you'd understand, 'f you were here.
Really, when I think about it... feels like ever since I stopped in to talk with Doc things've gotten a little better. S'easier keepin' my feet, 'n movin' the equipment up where it's needed ain't that much of a tall order, either. Prob'ly WAS a false alarm. Only spell I can think in recent memory was that one in front of Tom, but besides that... hell, s'been almost a good two, three weeks since I can remember it bein' bad.
Guess there ain't many places to go from here short of up. 'M just glad I got a little inspiration outta the situation. Got the letter back from Mann Co. today about that patent - I'm still workin' on adaptin' the basic frame for coyotes, they're too damn skinny to take the weight of the harness - well, anyhow. Gettin' sidetracked.
I sure hope these letters of mine're gettin' through to you okay, and that you're havin' yourself a good old time at home. How's that grandson of yours? He get born yet, or are you all still waitin' on him? Scares all hell when I think about all that... can't even picture what it must be like livin' it. Well, you were always better'n me at handlin' that kinda delicate stuff.
Miss you, buddy. Send word soon, huh?
RED Engineer
PS: Doc suggested I might take some time off pretty soon, what with my health and all. I know what I said up there about needin' to keep on the job, but - how d'you figure a holiday visit sounds? Don't gotta feel obligated, I just figured I'd suggest it.
